No Academy Award

"Europa, Europa" won a Golden Globe Award from LA Film Critics. However, the German film committee decided not to nominate it for an Academy Award. The response in Germany to this film was, for the most part, negative. Some called the main character "opportunistic and cynical," while others questioned his morality. What is your reaction to the denial for this film to be eligible for an Academy Award by its own county's film critics?

I think that it was wrong of their own country to deny the movie of an Acadamy Award, especially considering it won a Golden Globe Award from LA Film Critics. I think that the main reason this was decided was because Germany viewed the movie in a different perspective since it had occured in their country. It gave in some sense a bad view of Germany and they possibly didn't want to honor that by giving the movie an Acadamy Award.
