Torah Scroll from Bergen-Belsen

I also learned a further Holocaust connection to another item that Ilan Ramon took with him on that fateful shuttle mission. You can read the story of a Torah scroll and comment on this story.

I actually read about this earlier in the week in Bible as Lit. I feel that by the scroll being destroyed in the Columbia shuttle crash that the story of Joachim Joseph has spread and impacted more people than it would have been able to do so if displayed in a museum somewhere or something along those lines.

I agree with Corey, first off i think that it is awesome that the austranauts would choose to take things such as the scroll, and the moonscape drawing.. And i agree with Corey that i think the story has been more spread since the scroll was destroyed. I think this because an object like that would be easily overlooked in a museum, and well as the picture of the moonscape. But the story has been spread now do to the help of media. ___ Trevor Best

I think that although it is sad that the Torah scroll was destroyed in the shuttle crash, like Corey said, it is also being used as a good thing. So many people have probably been inpacted by the message that the scroll was able to get across. This is all because it was simply read on the shuttle Ramon. He had recieved the scroll from the Rabbi. By Ramon simply opening the scroll as an astonaunt on his mission, he was able to open up the minds of others through what he endured with his experience.
